Project Proposal 
1. The project must be related to World Music

2. The project must involve a degree of research to push your knowledge of the subject

3. The project must be measurable and well documented

  • What is the name of your project?

Project Description

  • What topic do you want to know more about?

  • What information is relevant to what you want to know?  

  • What information is irrelevant to what you want to know?  

  • How will you know the difference?  

 

Step 3

Project Rationale

  • Why did you choose this particular topic?

  • How will this topic strengthen your goals as a music historian?

 

Step 4

Resources

  • What kinds of places might hold interesting knowledge about your questions?  

  • Whom might you want to access to better understand your interests?

  • Provide 3 preliminary resources you have discovered through initial exploration

 

Step 5

Process

  • Describe what you are going to need to do in what order between this proposal and the presentation(i.e. micro plan)

 

Step 6

Creative Work and Presentation

  • Describe how you are going to present your project (oral, written, multimedia presentation, artifacts, performance, etc.)

 

Step 7

Evaluation

  • What specifically will make your project a success?

  • Fill out the Proposal Rubric either in Notability or PDF(rotate clockwise)OR type a CSP code in your google doc

Research and Artifacts

Step 1

  • Store a variety project resources(articles, images, videos, links, interviews, recordings, etc.)

  • Cite your Sources(authors, locations, human resources, etc.)

  • Include a minimum of 10 Artifacts(hyperlinks, images, etc.)

Please answer the following:

  • Describe your thoughts, feelings and/or opinions regarding the resources you have collected.

  • What was the most important and/or valued resources you gathered?

  • What resources were you already familiar with?

  • What resource surprised you the most? Why?

  •  What percentage of resources and artifacts directly relate to your proposal?

  • List 6 schools that offer bachelor, masters and/or doctoral degrees in Ethnomusicology

  • Describe 6 college or university World Music course offerings

Step 2 

  • Research a recent World Music concert program given by a University or College to answer the following

  1. Where and when did this performance take place?

  2. What types of performing forces were featured on this program? (choir, band, orchestra, jazz, etc.)

  3. Provide a description of the songs presented including title, composer, genre, style, etc.​
